Owning & operating a fishing lodge in Sitka, Alaska was always a dream for Richard Kraft & family. Many years ago, Richard would tell his boys if only he and wife, Caryn, was 10 years younger. It's funny where we sit today and how quickly life can change when an unexpected & exciting opportunity presents itself. The Cascade Creek Inn was purchased by the Kraft family in late '14 and they took over in the middle of '15.
Richard and Caryn Kraft moved to Sitka in 1987 with their two young boys, Ben and Tyler Kraft. They quickly fell in love with the beautiful scenery and the world-class fishing. Their youngest boy, Nathan, and only girl, Kaylee, were born in Sitka in 89' and 93'.
Two of the Kraft boys already had several years of charter fishing experience prior to the family's purchase of the Sitka fishing lodge. Tyler began his charter fishing career as a deckhand for another local Sitka charter fishing lodge in 2009. He became a USCG captain in '11, and began guiding trips in '12. He had a customized charter fishing boat built in '15. Read about Capt. Tyler's Sitka Alaska fishing boat. Tyler's fiancé Courtney Wimmer is Cascade Creek Inn & Charters client coordinator during the summer fishing season. She works as a full-time school psychologist during the school year. Nathan Kraft followed Tyler a year later and began guiding on his own boat in '15.
The oldest son, Ben, was a deckhand for a fishing lodge years ago prior to pursuing a Master's degree in architecture. Ben's wife, Kristi, is Cascade Creek Inn & Charters wonderful chef who prepares all the delicious meals for the guests on the fishing days. You can check out some of her great tasting recipes on her website Tiny Alaska Kitchen.
Kaylee and her husband, Duke, helped out with creating the website and getting our social media up and running. Currently based in Boston, MA, both frequently visit and help out during our busy summer months.
